The SÜDKREUZ project is a new mixed-use development in Berlin completed between the Südkreuz and Schöneberg railway stations. ZÜBLIN contributed to the project with the construction of eleven adjoining residential buildings with six to seven storeys including underground car park (Lots 1 and 2) as well as a commercial and office building (Lot 3, House J). Together, the two contracts have a total value of around € 105 million. The residential buildings each feature differently structured façades facing the courtyard and the street.
First flats handed over by ZÜBLIN in June 2020
A total of 664 rental flats were built in the new development under the ZÜBLIN contract, including 213 micro-apartments for students, divided into the three quality categories of Classic, Urban and Minimal.
ZÜBLIN already handed over the first units to the project developer Hines Immobilien in June 2020, a good four months ahead of the agreed deadline. In the meantime, ZÜBLIN has completed all remaining work at the site. The new development also includes a day care centre and various community facilities, such as co-working spaces, a gym, a bicycle workshop, a wooden pavilion and a rooftop terrace.
The office and commercial building with underground parking was completed in January 2020. The six-storey building offers around 11,500 m² of space for businesses in the fields of energy management and building services engineering. The underground car park is connected to the underground car park of the residential buildings.
In addition to the new buildings at Südkreuz, ZÜBLIN is acting as general contractor on several other large-scale projects in Berlin. These include the Alboingärten residential project with 432 residential units and the redevelopment of the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden shopping centre.
