- Recognition of ideas and solutions by young talents with regard to the digitalisation of the construction sector
- ZÜBLIN special prize is awarded to the master thesis “Verification of model-based project information for facility management” by JosephusMeulenkamp
The prizes for the “Built on IT” competition were awarded at a special ceremony held during the bautec trade fair for building and construction technology in Berlin. This year’s annual prize contest, sponsored by RKW Centre for Productivity and Innovation, had as its theme: “Innovation in the construction industry – Profiting from new ideas and shaping the future”. Ed. Züblin AG, the number one in building construction and civil engineering in Germany, premium sponsor of the prize and member of the prize jury, for the fourth time also awarded a special prize. Klaus Pöllath of the Ed. Züblin AG management board personally presented the prize to the winner, Josephus Meulenkamp of the Technical University of Munich.
Meulenkamp had two reasons to celebrate: Not only did he receive the special ZÜBLIN prize for his master thesis, he also secured himself first place in the architecture category. The jury particularly acknowledged his extensive treatise on the topic of verifying model-based project information for facility management. In addition to Meulenkamp’s very realistic concept, the jury also praised the prototypical realisation and high practical relevance of his work. The proof-of-concept with usage examples was met by an especially positive response.
The “Built on IT” award is presented to outstanding IT solutions for the digitalisation of the construction industry. The contest is intended as an opportunity for apprentices and trainees, students, graduates and young professionals to contribute their concepts and ideas to shaping the future of the construction industry. The prizes comprise twelve cash awards with a total value of € 20,000 as well as attractive non-cash winnings. The categories were: architecture, civil engineering, construction management and the commercial-technical field.
